Walk Between Two Continents

Just a short drive from the airport, you can physically stand in the rift between tectonic plates.

The Bridge: A symbolic footbridge spans a major fissure separating the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.
Photo Op: You can cross from "America" to "Europe" in seconds. It’s a powerful reminder of the geological forces shaping the island.

Gunnuhver: The Angry Ghost

Explore the heart of Iceland’s geothermal energy at Gunnuhver, named after a legendary ghost said to be trapped in the hot springs.

The Sight: It is Iceland’s largest mud pool. The ground shakes, and thick steam rises violently into the air.
The Smell: Be prepared for the strong smell of sulfur - a signature scent of Icelandic volcanic activity.

Reykjanesviti & The Cliffs

Drive to the very tip of the peninsula to see Iceland’s oldest lighthouse standing guard over the ocean.

The Lighthouse: Perched on a hill, Reykjanesviti is a classic white lighthouse that guides ships through dangerous waters.
Valahnúkamöl: Just below the lighthouse, you’ll find stunning sea cliffs and a rocky beach formed by massive boulders. It’s a great spot to watch the power of the Atlantic waves (from a safe distance!).
