Car types
NØRDE Drive reserves the right to substitute a vehicle when the reserved car type is not available, while ensuring a vehicle of similar class and specifications whenever possible.
Age and driving license
The lessee/driver of a passenger vehicle must be at least 20 years of age and must have held a valid driver’s license for a minimum of one (1) year. Drivers under the age of 20 may be eligible to rent a vehicle upon payment of an additional Young Driver Fee, subject to approval by NØRDE Drive.
Cancellations
* Cancellations are eligible for a full refund only if a refundable payment option was selected at the time of booking and the cancellation is made at least 24 hours prior to the rental start date.
* For non-refundable bookings, cancellations made at least 24 hours prior to the rental start date are eligible for a voucher equal to the amount paid.
* Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the rental start date are not eligible for a refund or voucher.
* Cancellations submitted less than 10 days prior to the rental start date are subject to a €30 processing/service fee, deducted from any refund or voucher.
Obligations of the Lessee
1. The lessee confirms acceptance of this agreement and acknowledges receipt of its copy.
2. The lessee agrees to return the vehicle, including all accessories (tires, tools, and equipment): a) In the same condition as received, allowing for normal wear and tear. Missing or damaged items will be charged at replacement cost. b) With the same fuel level or battery charge as documented at pickup, unless prepaid fuel was selected. Any discrepancy will be charged in accordance with the NØRDE Drive price list. c) In a reasonably clean condition. Excessive dirt or uncleanliness will result in a cleaning fee.
3. Failure to return the vehicle at the agreed time or failure to notify NØRDE Drive of an extension authorizes repossession of the vehicle at the lessee’s expense. Returns exceeding 1 hour after expiration may incur up to 24 hours of additional rental charges.
4. Only drivers listed in the rental agreement are authorized to operate the vehicle. The lessee is fully liable for damage not covered by insurance, including but not limited to: a) Off-road driving b) River crossings or water exposure c) Gross negligence or intentional acts d) Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs e) Driving contrary to Icelandic law f) Driving in snow banks or icy terrain
5. Driving on F-roads is strictly prohibited unless using an approved 4x4 vehicle. Passenger cars and 2WD vehicles are forbidden on F-roads and specified restricted routes. Violations may result in fines equivalent to the full self-risk amount.
6. In the event of an accident or collision, the lessee must immediately notify both the police and NØRDE Drive and remain at the scene until authorities arrive.
7. The lessee agrees to pay: a) A security deposit equal to the estimated rental cost. b) All costs related to vehicle recovery, transport, or retrieval due to misuse or abandonment.
8. Repairs or modifications may not be made without prior written consent from NØRDE Drive.
9. The lessee is responsible for all tolls, parking fees, traffic fines, and administrative processing fees up to €30.
10. NØRDE Drive reserves the right to charge the lessee’s payment card for fines, damages, or administrative costs arising from traffic violations.
11. Ignoring service or inspection notifications may result in negligence fees.
12. The vehicle may not be used for commercial passenger transport, subleasing, or lending to third parties.
13. The vehicle must be returned with a full fuel tank.
14. Early termination of the rental does not entitle the lessee to a refund.
15. Smoking is strictly prohibited. Any evidence of smoking will result in a €300 penalty fee.
Obligations of the Lessor
16. NØRDE Drive guarantees delivery of the vehicle at the agreed time in roadworthy condition.
17. Mechanical failures will be addressed as promptly as possible. b
18. The lessee will be informed of all contract terms prior to signing.
19. Foreign lessees will be informed of Icelandic traffic laws and off-road driving prohibitions.
20. Any limitations regarding vehicle usage must be stated in writing at the time of rental.
21. NØRDE Drive maintains valid liability insurance for its operations.
Insurance & Liability
22. A mandatory road usage fee of €10 per rental day applies to all rentals.
23. The rental price includes mandatory liability and accident insurance.
24. Third-party liability insurance is provided in accordance with Icelandic law.
25. Optional insurance plans (CDW, SCDW, GP, TP, SAAP, ZERO) may be purchased to reduce liability.
26. Each self-risk applies per incident.
27. Insurance does not cover damages including but not limited to:
Wheels, suspension, glass (except windows), batteries
Animal collisions
Undercarriage damage
Incorrect fuel usage
Wind-damaged doors
Off-road or F-road violations
Water damage
Theft-related losses
Lost license plates (€100 replacement fee)
Extreme weather negligence
28. Driving violations may incur additional fines up to €500.
29. If no additional insurance is purchased, maximum liability is €3,500, excluding towing and recovery.
30. In cases of water, sand, ash, or underside damage, NØRDE Drive may require a deposit of up to €7,000.
General Provisions
31. This agreement must remain with the vehicle throughout the rental period.
32. Amendments must be made in writing.
33. Lessee consents to the use of contact details for marketing purposes.
34. Icelandic law governs this agreement.
35. Disputes may be submitted to the Icelandic Consumers Association Arbitration Committee.
36. The lessee authorizes NØRDE Drive to charge damages and sign payment vouchers on their behalf.
GPS Tracking
37. NØRDE Drive vehicles are equipped with GPS tracking devices collecting data such as location, speed, and impact metrics for safety, insurance, and misuse prevention. Data processing details are outlined in the NØRDE Drive Privacy Policy.
Price List & Self-Risk

Cancellation Policy

General Terms
All cancellations must be submitted through the customer’s online booking account using the official cancellation link provided in the booking confirmation email or via the NØRDE Drive website. The effective date and time of cancellation is the moment the cancellation request is successfully submitted through the system.
Cancellations made via other channels (email, phone, social media) are not considered valid unless confirmed in writing by NØRDE Drive.
Refundable Payment Option
If the refundable payment option was selected at the time of booking, the customer is entitled to a full refund, provided the cancellation is submitted no later than 24 hours before the scheduled rental start date and time.
Refunds will be issued to the original payment method within a reasonable processing timeframe after confirmation.
Non-Refundable Bookings
Bookings made without the refundable payment option are not eligible for a cash refund.
If the cancellation is submitted at least 24 hours prior to the rental start date, the customer will receive a voucher equal to the total amount paid. The voucher can be used for a future booking with NØRDE Drive and is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
Late Cancellations
Cancellations submitted less than 24 hours before the rental start date are not eligible for a refund or voucher. In such cases, the full booking amount will be retained as a cancellation fee.
Processing and Service Fee
If a cancellation is submitted less than 10 days prior to the rental start date, a Processing and Service Fee of €30 will apply. This fee will be deducted from any applicable refund or voucher amount.
Refund Processing Time
All approved refunds are issued to the original payment method.
Please note that refunds may take up to 10 business days to appear in the customer’s account, depending on the policies of the bank or payment provider. NØRDE Drive is not responsible for delays caused by third-party financial institutions.
Currency Exchange Fluctuations
Refunds are processed in EUR or ISK, depending on the currency used for the original payment.
Minor differences in the refunded amount may occur due to exchange rate fluctuations, international transaction fees, or bank conversion costs. These factors are outside the control of NØRDE Drive, and no compensation will be provided for such differences.
No-Show Policy
Failure to collect the rental vehicle at the scheduled start time without submitting a cancellation will be considered a no-show.
In the event of a no-show:
The booking will be automatically canceled
No refund or voucher will be issued
Amendments to This Policy
NØRDE Drive reserves the right to modify or update this Cancellation Policy at any time. Any changes will take effect immediately upon publication on the official website and will apply to all new bookings made thereafter.
